<%}%>Father Joseph M. Marquart
Reverend Joseph Martin Marquart, age 76, born on August 22, 1931b in Portland, OR and died in Federal Way, WA on May 2, 2008. Priest of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Father Marquart was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Thomas Connolly on May 18, 1957. He served as assistant pastor at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Bremerton; and St. Luke Church, Shoreline. At St. Margaret Church, Seattle, he served as assistant pastor and priest administrator. He was pastor of St. Patrick Church, Tacoma, WA, and St. Mary Magdalen Church, Everett, and St. John Mission, Mukilteo, WA. Father Marquart was a founding member of the Priest Pension Board and was inspirational in the founding of Archbishop Murphy High School where he also served on the Board. He also served as Dean in the Archdiocese. Father Marquart was particularly devoted to the promotion of Catholic Schools, the Catholic Youth Organization, Catholic Scouting, and service to the poor. During his priesthood he received several awards in recognition of his commitment to these ministries, including, most recently, the Monsignor Doogan Award in support of Catholic Schools and the St. George Medal in support of Catholic Scouting.
